Editorial Guidelines for the New York Times Special Edition:
- Keep it real. Write about things that can actually happen. Be hopeful, playful even, but sell us on a future that we can actually believe in.
- Who, what, how. Things just don’t happen out of nowhere. How did this change come to be? Who exactly in government is being pressured and by whom? Your article should be a rough roadmap - not so much for government, as for all of us on how to make it happen.
- Tone: Sincere, with humor. Not ironic. There can be some joke stuff, but it should be limited to a sprinkling.
That’s it! Now, go to the future and find something worth writing about.
